Passionately
believing that pet overpopulation is the greatest breeder of
animal cruelty, Actors and Others is the leading spay/neuter
assistance organization in Southern California. We subsidize
over 1,200 procedures monthly for pet companions (including
rabbits, guinea pigs and the like) of seniors, the handicapped,
AIDS patients, and others living on a low and/or fixed income.
Our staff works closely with low-cost veterinarians throughout
Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura
Counties.

of the nature of our assistance and the sheer volume of requests

WE
OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TOWARDS THE COST OF SURGERY
If
you qualify for assistance, you will be directed to a low-cost
veterinarian in your area who has agreed to work with us to
offer lower costs, and provided with a financial pledge to
help pay for the surgery. Except for special programs, we are
unable to pay for the entire surgery, but subsidize a portion of
the cost. Except for feral cats, we can only provide help prior
to surgery. We are unable to make personal reimbursements or
provide financial help after the surgery has been completed.

FREE PIT BULL COMMUNITY
OUTREACH SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM
Prompted
by a series of vicious attacks by pit bulls that horrified
the City of Los Angeles in 1999, Actors and Others took a leadership
role in addressing this serious community problem by instituting
a program to provide FREE surgeries for pit bulls or pit bull
mixes residing throughout the Los Angeles vicinity.
If
you qualify for assistance, you will be directed to a low-cost
veterinarian in your area that has agreed to work with us.
To receive a free spay/neuter surgery, the pit bull must be
your personal family pet. You may receive up to three (3) free
surgeries per family. It is not available for stray or rescued
dogs. We will continue to subsidize a portion of the cost of
surgery for those pit bulls that do not qualify for this program.

WORKING
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES TO DISTRIBUTE
SPAY AND NEUTER DISCOUNT COUPONS
Actors and Others for Animals participates in the City of Los Angeles Spay and Neuter Discount
Coupon Program
for qualifying Los Angeles City residents. This program was established
to help citizens sterilize their pet dogs and cats through authorized
veterinary hospitals. Coupons will be provided to eligible individuals.
The program is not for feral cats, stray dogs and cats, or for
persons residing outside the City of Los Angeles. A limited number
of coupons
are received from the Department of Animal Services each month
and therefore they may not be available at all times. |
VACCINATIONS ARE
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PET GUARDIAN
As
a responsible pet guardian, it is your duty to make sure that your
pet is current with all necessary vaccinations. Many veterinarians
require immunization prior to spay/neuter. The City of Los Angeles
offers low-cost vaccination clinics throughout the City. Please

We
provide low-cost veterinary referrals, which should not be
construed as an endorsement of any kind. We do not endorse,
recommend or promote any one veterinarian over another. The
ultimate decision and agreement to retain the services of the
veterinarian we refer you to is your sole responsibility as
