Waterman and Makayla
Driving down a dirt road on his way to visit a friend in the Lake Los Angeles
area, Mike Waterman came across a four-week-old German Shepard puppy sitting
smack in the middle of the road. Now four years old, Makayla is a Pet Assisted
Therapy pro, who for the past three years has taken weekly turns visiting Granada
Hills Hospital (Alzheimer Day-Care Unit) and Summerville Terrace Retirement Home.
In addition, this duo also takes time to visit with elementary school students
to teach them about the importance of the human-animal bond by sharing their
experiences as Pet Assisted Therapy volunteers. |
